Are bots allowed on URChat?

Yes, in most, cases bots are permitted on URChat.
However, in all cases bots may only be placed in channels with the channel
owner's permission. If you don't have permission from the channel owner you
might find yourself and your bot banned from the channel.
Examples of Permitted Bots:
- Channel Protection Bots - Bots that monitor the channel for channel rule
violations and kick or ban violators.
- Info Bots - Bots that provide information or links when directed by a user
or channel operator. They may also provide the weather, definitions of words
or acronyms, or perform whois and trace-routes.
- Search Bots - Bots that search the Internet for specified terms.
- Stats Bots - Bots that log the channel and generate statistics based on
user activity.
- Seen Bots - Bots that create a database of who has joined the channel and
when they last parted.
- A.I. Bots - Bots that are programmed to speak with other users with an
Artificial Intelligence.
- Channel Index Bots - Bots used by IRC search engines to catalog channel
topics and the numbers of users.
- Game Bots - Bots that perform games such as trivia, scramble, hangman,
etc.
Examples of Prohibited Bots:
The following types of bots are prohibited from connecting to URChat. Anyone
placing these types of bots on our servers will find themselves as well as their
bots banned.
- NO bot should kick or ban for "Abusing desync" on URChat. Please
change your eggdrop settings to: "chanset
-nodesynch"
- Spam Bots - Bots created with the sole purpose of joining channels to spam
(advertise) something.
- Flood Bots - Bots that attempt to flood users or channels with unwanted
information or links.
- Trojan Bots - Bots that attempt to trick users into downloading programs
or exploit security vulnerabilities.
- File Servs - Bots that allow others to download and share files, pictures,
music, etc.
- Leech Bots - Bots that collect all files offered for download.
- Zombies - Bots that linger in channels or on the network without any
discernible purpose.
- Drones - Systems infected with various types of backdoors and Trojans.
- Clone Bots - Bots placed in channels to inflate the channel's user number
or clone a user.
- Any type of script or program that interferes with the proper use of a
channel or the network.
- Any bot that kicks and/or bans IRCOps ands Admins.
